What is it about women and bad boys? Despite knowing that
bad boys tend to leave behind trails of broken hearts and regret, women still
chase after them. It is quite puzzling how women are attracted to these types
of men with full knowledge that a broken heart is a guarantee. There are
several reasons behind this
self-defeating trait that can help explain why sensible women seek rebellious
jerks and ignore the nice guys.
In most movies or books, love is shown as an exciting,
breathtaking adventure, which in effect leads women to believe that love should
be a roller coaster. With this in mind, who is most likely to provide this
thrill, a nice guy or a bad boy? Thus, in most cases, women seek out bad boys
for the thrill of it, for the opportunity to experience that exhilarating love.
Sadly, what ensues most of the time, is a great fall, sure the love is exciting
for a bit but it turns sour and dangerous very fast. Thrill is not a
prerequisite for everlasting love, that 'boring' love women find very tedious,
is what is needed in the long run.
There is also the matter of 'fixing' men. Most women have
this belief that they are capable of molding and changing men until they are
perfect. So for women, a bad boy is a challenge. In their minds, they will be
the bad boy's savior, heal him from his bad ways and eventually live together
happily ever after. Unfortunately, this is not what usually happens, the
reality is that they rarely 'fix' the men and end up with a broken-heart. Once
a woman leaves behind a perception that they can fix men, and that love should
be breathtakingly exciting, then they will be immune to the bad boy charm.
