One day soon, humans will create
technology that will develop consciousness, enslave us and then proceed to destroy
humanity, or so it goes. There have been several movies that have portrayed the
danger of self-aware machines, including the very popular Terminator and Matrix
franchises. However, should we be worried, are our futures are really
threatened by artificial intelligence (AI) systems? It sounds like a movie doesn’t
it, something inconceivable. Despite this several figures including Bill Gates,
Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk have expressed concern about superintelligent machines.
Thus, if these brilliant men of science and technology are concerned, shouldn’t
the rest of us be? Firstly, before you start panicking and building bunkers,
let’s first understand what an artificial intelligent system is. Artificial
intelligence is basically a branch in computer science that specializes in
creating intelligent machines. Intelligent in that it can plan, solve problems
and most importantly learn and dialogue. It sounds pretty spectacular, a
machine able to understand and help solve your issues. IA are very much part of
our daily lives and we pay little attention to them because of how easy they
make life. For example, they can do a variety of things, small things such as recommending
restaurants to dine in based on preferences, performing medical diagnosis. </div>

Nevertheless, computers may be a
lot of things, but humans still far surpass even the smartest computer. Currently,
the smartest computer is as smart as a four year old. So, no need to worry
right? Wrong. The real problem at the moment is not AI taking over the world,
but simple the fact that it is poised to take over many jobs. A world where computer
systems will eventually drive a majority of people into poverty and uplift a
few into vast wealth is not fictional. AI are constantly getting, better,
smarter, continuously improving due to achievements in processor speeds. Meanwhile
our brains have not had any major upgrades in 50,000 years! Artificial
intelligence has long arrived in our workplaces, in fact study shows that someone
like a loan officer has a 98% probability of being replaced by a computer,
while surgeons remain the safest from the plunder of artificial intelligence. </div>

It is wise to be cautious,
computers are learning, have less probability of making errors and are cheaper
and easier to maintain than humans. No job is safe; we are already seeing self
driving cars, application that can translate languages, and more factories have
employed machines to carry out tasks. So, although the scenario of machines
taking over the world is still far off, they are affecting our lives. Humans
now need to be critical, creative, and flexible to compete with machines.</div>

Make Physical Health a Priority

I love working out such that at times I have withdrawal symptoms when I don't work out e.g. painful thighs due to intense squats the previous day and missing the next. The WHO recommends that we do at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week in their Global Action plan to reduce lifestyle diseases by 2025.<br />
Interesting especially for us who have office jobs and have busy dealing with bad traffic; workable for some people but well for some of us our schedules are way too tight to do such. But thank God for technology now there are apps to help you with your physical activities.<br />
Achieving this is not as hard as we think it is;<br />

<li> working the whole day at some point you will have to visit the "little girls' room" while there don't just do your business do some squats, and for those of us who take a lot of water we sort do visit the ladies quite often. </li>
<li>For those of us who drive scrape off taking the lift to the office take the stairs instead though I am not saying that you start taking stairs to the 10th or 15th floor from day one but start by taking baby steps one flight of stairs at a time. </li>
<li>While sitting on your chair take what I would like to call stretch breaks and stretch a bit. Walk instead of driving to work or taking a matatu to work, if it is a long distant do half of it or cover some distance.</li>
</ul>
So you think it is still not achievable? Keeping fit doesn't require a gym (although going to the gym is good too) or some heavy equipment. Use your body to benefit itself.<br />

Mieno has now signed a two years contract with Tusker FC and will be joining coach Francis Kimanzi and his fellow players Jame Situma who joined the brewers from AFC Leopards and Patrick Oboya who joined from Gor Mahia as the newly signed players.<br />

In other news PUMA will be the official sponsors of the balls that will be used in the 2015 KPL tournament. While launching the ball PUMA's General Manager for
 Middle East and East Africa Oliver Wirth said that “We are delighted to
 be launching the 2015 Kenyan Premier League official match ball in 
Kenya as we strive to continue the success of 2014,PUMA has a long 
standing history with both Africa and African football and is privileged

Besides our crushed hopes in the rains, economists from the

Generally speaking, growth of the Economy brings some food
to those who hadn’t and even more food to those who have some. It does so in an
indirect and an unequally different manner to different groups of people in a
country. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Like the biblical parable of
the servants issued with coins to trade, the blessings of a growth in the Economy
are likely to be more felt by the owner than the worker of a business entity. Remember,
to those who have it will be added and to those with little it shall be taken
from them. </div>

Don’t be so skeptical towards a growth. No growth, save the
one for the enemy, is likely to hurt you. The economy of the country is not and
can rarely be your enemy. As a matter of fact, we are part of the whole. As such,
we ought to be positive when chances of growth for the whole are visible. We can
be sure, as the body grows, majority of the parts must grow with it. Earnestly,
all I imply is that some parts are bound to grow faster than others depending
on the causation of growth. </div>

It is easy to identify the parts likely to grow faster. Infrastructural
development was sighted in that report as a major contributor to the
anticipated growth. By taking advantage of the newly linked parts of the country,
we are likely to uncover new markets or sources of cheaper supplies.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Those who have will invest in the
opportunities, a startup will also work well if it undertakes to explore the
new markets. Unfortunately, not all of us have the ability to take advantage of
this opportunities due to financial constraints. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The disadvantaged in this case can sit, and as
they pray that someone may not grab their opportunity before they accumulate
funds to invest in it, God will answer them by an invitation letter for an
interview. Myself, rather than pray sited, I will walk through town looking for
money from somewhere I don’t know where. I know I must get some and position
myself at the base of the tide, as the wave forms, up with it I shall come with
my startup.And if fate wishes the economy to fall, down I shall go with hope. Aint scared of either situations.</div>

How to Overcome Pain When the Unexpected Happen! A Widow in 3 Years!

For Marion Amukuzi, life as a widow has not been easy. <br>

When she got married to her late husband John Mutunga in April 2009 at a
magnificent garden wedding in Nairobi, they both looked forward to a long
beautiful life as a couple. <br>

But as fate would have it, their dreams would not materialise as John’s life
was suddenly cut short due to an accident. <br>

<br>

“John and I met at Maseno University where we were both students. We were in
the Christian Union (CU) and at some point, he was our patron. I held him in
high esteem because of his position and never thought we could date. But one
thing led to another and we grew fond of each other,” says Marion. <br>

In 2005, Marion says they officially started dating. <br>

“From our first date, we knew we were meant for each other and we were
getting married soon after campus,” she says. <br>

Marion says getting married to John was the best thing that happened to her.
<br>

“Though a few of his relatives and my relatives were not for the idea of a
cross cultural marriage - he was Kamba and I am Luhya - nothing could separate
us except death, which struck sooner than we both expected,” says Marion. <br>

According to her, they had never talked about death because they knew they
would grow old together. Says she: “Almost three years into our marriage, we
felt like we were still on honeymoon and life was just beginning. Ours was a
beautiful love story and I don’t regret ever having married John.” <br>

On January 11, 2012, the unexpected happened. <br>

“We lived in Imara Daima Estate, Nairobi and on this morning, we left the
house for work as usual. I was seven months pregnant. I asked John if we could
take a matatu right outside our gate but he was reluctant because the traffic
was heavy and so it was faster to walk to Mombasa Road,” she recalls. <br>

She offers: “I can note that he was in a rather pensive mood. Just before we
reached Mombasa Road, I suspect the matatu we were to board at the gate came
overlapping. I can’t recall exactly what happened because we were walking on
the pedestrian path when suddenly John pushed me and I fell on the side of the
road flat on my tummy. I heard a loud bang and when I woke up, the matatu was
on top of him. I thought I was just having a bad dream. I remember screaming at
the top of my voice and asking the people around to help me take him to
hospital and I couldn’t understand why nobody was not willing to help. One guy
blatantly told me there was no need to take him to hospital because he was
already dead but I was not convinced.” <br>

In that confusion, thanks to a good Samaritan who was driving by and had
witnessed the incident, Marion got some help. <br>

“She put me in her car and called a friend to watch over me as she continued
to call my family members and John’s colleagues. She made sure I did not get
out of the car and my attempts to get her to take my husband to hospital did
not bear fruit until I was told an ambulance had arrived to pick him. <br>

All this time, I was convinced he was still alive. I thought there was no
way God was going to allow this to happen yet I had just lost my dad less than
two months before,” she says. <br>

The sad news was broken to her at Mater Hospital. By then, she had suspected
all was not well when she saw her husband’s relatives at the hospital. <br>

“I was in a trance and I couldn’t sleep the entire night even with several
doses of drugs to help me sleep. I asked my sister to give me her Bible. I
would open it randomly and all the verses I read the entire night told me all
was well. I would hold my tummy and tell my baby it would be well. <br>

Only once, did I worry about how I was going to single-handedly take care of
my baby but before it sank in, God assured me all would be well and I have not
been worried ever since,” she says. <br>

For Marion, talking about her life journey helped in her healing. <br>

“My family, friends, John’s former colleagues, including his bosses, our
neighbours and the church played a major role in my healing process. They
planned the burial in my absence and took care of all the expenses and
continued to support me way after the burial. I will forever remain indebted to
them,” she says. <br>

At some point, though, Marion says she lost all the confidence she had and
this even affected her work. <br>

“I had to go back to work when my baby Ethan John Mutunga, was just two
months old because I had spent so much time away and my employer was not going
to allow me more time. <br>

I contemplated quitting, but decided to hold on because I did not know what
the future had in store for me. Eventually when I quit, God opened another door
the very next day. Without God I would have given up a long time ago.” <br>

She attests to the fact that it’s not easy being widowed at 31 and is yet to
accept being called a widow. <br>

“I have not known what it means to rest ever since my husband’s death. I
have become independent. Insects no longer freak me out as they used to because
John is not there to kill them. I fix things in the house and only call for
help when it’s major. John’s death sort of awakened me from my slumber,” she
says. <br>

She terms her son Ethan as a calm, mature and responsible child, a replica
of his dad. <br>

“God took away the big John and gave me a small one who is trying so hard to
fit into the big shoes. The best gift that John left me is Ethan and I know I
have a big responsibility to take good care of him,” she says. <br>

Though he is too young to notice the gap, Marion says when he comes of age,
she is ready to take him through the process of knowing who his father was, and
prays he will be glad to know his father was exemplary in character and he loved
God. <br>

So what next for Marion? <br>

“I decided I will not linger in the sad memory but move on. God has enabled
me to accomplish almost all the dreams we had in a miraculous way, which
included going back to school for my Masters,” she says. <br>

“Even though it hurts to lose a loved one, don’t linger forever in the
anguish. Little by little, rise up and take the baby steps until you are able
to walk strong again,” says Marion. <br>
